So it’s snowing for your Engagement Photos?

Don’t cancel! I know it’s cold, and wet and slippery. But, what is more romantic than getting in touch with your inner child and running around in the snow with the love of your life? These snowy engagement photos in New York City feel cinematic, like stills right out of a movie. It was unreal how beautiful the massive snowflakes falling were. So layer up, bring some hand warmers, and go for that winter photoshoot!

How to beat the Cold when it’s Snowy for your Engagement Photos

I will say that while the snow is gorgeous, it is freezing. So after frolicking around in the snowfall, we sought respite from the weather for a bit in the Jefferson Market Library and a glass of wine with a book at The Noortwyck. Taking breaks is perfect for warming up your hands and honestly the photos literally feel warm when you look at them. A couple things to help while outside though: layers and hand warmers. Don’t worry about too many things to carry, bring a little tote bag and I’ll help carry it!

Making any setting Romantic with Genuine Storytelling

My biggest tip for any weather during your photoshoot, is to lean into personal aspects of your love story. No matter what the weather or setting is, if there’s a clear story in your photos they’re gonna be impactful. I love to blend styles so my work specifically takes both editorial and cinematic approaches to how I capture couples. Regardless of how I set up a photo, I like to include elements of storytelling.

For Sarah and Justin, they met in their college library so that was one aspect we ran with. By including a literal library we referenced the beginning of their love story, but we also brought a book to the wine bar to show how that love of reading has grown with their relationship and bonded them. We also showed a bit more of their everyday life together by starting our session at the church they attend and ending at Washington Square Park where they frequently take strolls together.
