An Authentic Brooklyn Day || Engagement Photos in Williamsburg

Two Brooklynites in Love

Alexis and Vin have that long-term love and it really really shows. When Alexis inquired with me about their wedding photos, she mentioned that they met way back in college. She also told me their favorite thing to do together was to go out and enjoy their neighborhood (Williamsburg, Brooklyn). Once we started planning their engagement photos to be in Williamsburg, we knew it had to emulate a typical date day in Brooklyn for them.

Engagement Photos in Their Favorite Williamsburg Spots

We started out in the Subway since that’s such a staple of everyday life and getting around in Brooklyn. Then from there we went for cocktails at one of their favorite spots, the Craic. It has the vibiest lounge area while still feeling like a classic Irish pub. We broke out the flash and did some glam photos with a mix of cuddles and editorial looks.

After that, we walked around the neighborhood a bit and stumbled onto a bodega with a flower stand on the outside, so we spent a little time picking out some fresh flowers for them to take home. But not before taking the bouquet down to the little beach area off of Marsha P Johnson park where Vin proposed! The views here are some of the best in Brooklyn in my opinion and we had fun getting a variety of photos while balancing on the rocks. Thankfully no one fell!

Last, but not least, we walked over to Paulie Gee’s, a retro feeling pizza shop with some bombbbb ass slices. We let loose a little here and had fun sharing pizza lady and the tramp style and playing with detail shots of the pizza carnage as we devoured through our meal. I had never eaten at this particular pizza joint before so Alexis and Vin were adamant I give it a try and rate it! It did not disappoint.

A Sprinkle of 35mm Film

I am not lying when I say that I’ve never talked more or laughed more during an engagement session. The three of us hit it off so well and I’m declaring us instant besties already. With the energy so high, I decided to break out my film camera even though we hadn’t planned on it. I took a few shots of them throughout the session on Portra 400 with my Nikon F100 and well, I’m obsessed. The last four photos below are film!
