Pink and Retro Disco Wedding in Brooklyn New York

Are you dreaming of a vibrant wedding day that defies tradition, and celebrates love in the most unconventional ways? Look no further. Check out the electrifying pink retro disco-themed wedding of Molly and Andrew at the 501 Union venue. This non-traditional celebration was a kaleidoscope of color, glitter, and pure joy, perfect for couples seeking a wedding as unique as their love story.

Getting Ready to Disco

From the moment the day began at Dream Loft Studios, the setting was ablaze with the vivid hues of pink. The getting ready suite itself was a spectacle of vibrant decor and shimmering disco balls, perfectly setting the tone. The air buzzed with anticipation and excitement. Molly wore a custom hot pink tulle veil, a masterpiece crafted by the talented Madison Chamberlain. Her dress was a delightful ruffled creation with detachable sleeves and a long train. It was a playful twist on traditional attire and perfectly complemented Andrew’s white suit adorned with silver sequins and a dashing pink boutonnière.

A Dazzling Display of Details

The flat lay for Molly and Andrew’s wedding was a masterpiece of thoughtful details and personal touches, capturing the essence of their vibrant celebration. At the heart of it was a custom invitation suite designed by their talented friend Megan of Mega Creative Company, a visual symphony of pink hues that set the tone for the entire day. Surrounding the invitations were dazzling disco balls, the couple’s wedding rings, and a Marc Jacobs fragrance. To tie it all together, a few extra painted pink anthurium flowers from the stunning bouquets by Olivia Howard Designs added a final touch.

The Unforgettable First Look

Before the ceremony began, the couple shared an intimate first look that added an extra layer of magic to their already extraordinary day. As Molly made her way towards Andrew, anticipation hung in the air. The atmosphere crackled with excitement until the moment Andrew laid eyes on his bride. A gasp, loud and genuine, hit us all in the feels as he saw Molly in all her radiant glory for the first time on their wedding day. It was a heartwarming moment full of happy tears and big laughter. Then the couple rolled right into their wedding portraits, which to be honest are some of my favorites ever.

Wedding Portraits with a Pink Flair and a Touch of Grunge

Molly and Andrew wanted their photos to be a reflection of their bold personalities and unique love story. In pursuit of an editorial style with a dramatic flair and a touch of grunge, we crafted a really fun setup to bring this vision to life.

I wanted to bring the pink into every aspect of their portraits. Thankfully the venue just happened to be next to some pink disco street art. We happily used that as a backdrop. But the venue also had these amazing windowed doors we wanted as a backdrop. So I brought a pink checkered rug, laid it out front and pulled a pink lucite chair from the ceremony. The result? A breathtaking setup that effortlessly blended vogue elegance with a hint of grunge. It was the perfect backdrop for some of the most captivating wedding portraits.

I had so much fun with some bold and creative posing, while still embodying their love and connection. Every shot radiated the couple’s distinct style and showcased the harmonious convergence of their personalities.

A Pink Filled Ceremony

As guests arrived at the ceremony, they too joined the spectacle, donning their brightest pinks and shimmering textures. The entire venue became a vision of pink disco vibes. A true testament to the couple’s commitment to celebrating their union in a way that was authentically them. The ceremony was full of personal touches such as being officiated by Molly’s dad. It also included the bride coming down to an instrumental version of the Pokemon theme song to surprise her groom. After many laughs, the crowd of pink and sequins cheered as they said “I do.”

Reception Rave Under the Disco Ball

The festivities continued with a fun and non-traditional cocktail hour. The NY Food Truck Association served an array of cuisines during cocktail hour accompanied by cotton candy and popcorn machines. Later, this was followed by a pizza truck for dinner with custom pizza boxes featuring their dog Chloe.

After cocktail hour, the evening transformed into a dazzling affair as the bride and groom changed into their second ensembles. Molly stunned in a shimmering fringe dress, complete with puffy hot pink tulle sleeves. Andrew switched to a pink printed suit and both added their own twist with hot pink Nike Air Force Ones. Even the amazing wedding planner, Amy from Poppy and Lynn, and myself participated with matching nikes and pink suits. Then, they danced their way into the reception with an eruption of excitement.

Under the iconic disco ball of 501 Union, the atmosphere pulsated with classic disco hits, inviting everyone to join the celebration. The bride’s mom surprised the groom with a choreographed lip-sync performance, adorned with pink feathery boas, showcasing the infectious joy that filled the air.

But it wasn’t just the couple who radiated happiness—the love and laughter extended to every guest and vendor present. The collective energy of this pink and retro disco wedding was a symphony of sparkles, joy, and most importantly, love.
